Is Education a scam?

Is education just a business?
Sometimes I feel like education is just a way students everywhere are torturing themselves. Is it a scam? or is it a business? Are they just making money from students everywhere? We pay thousands and thousands of dollars ever semester to complete courses which we want to get over with and rarely enjoy, feel imprisoned and obligated to go, want to go home as soon as possible get excited when what we paid for being the classes..are cancelled, study for hours and hours for exams which contain materials which we probably will not remember a few months later, get all stress out, and all for what?! just to get a paper in the end saying that we have done this and paid thousands of dollars for this paper which is considered so valuable in society today, the infamous "Degree" Have you noticed when you go for a job interview some of the first questions they ask are what have you studied? what "Degree" do you have? and where from?? Although I have seen it myself on many different occasions people who have not been to college are in a different if not lower social class and have completely different lifestyles than those have "Degrees" but I think the main idea we have all come to accept and agree upon unfortunetly is "No College No knowledge" in some cases it is true but in other cases I have met many people who are doing fine without a "Degree" and or have one but are not even working in their own field which the "Degree" says they are trained for. I do believe everyone should experience college in one way or another although at times I do have my doubts about the infamous "Degree" I guess its just an open ended question is Education a scam? a business? or is it really essential in one's life?
